Anna Wintour hosts Dinner for Obama
Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour hosted one of the country’s most important citizens at her Sullivan Street home. President Barack Obama dined at Wintour’s home for a fund-raising event to benefit the Democratic National Committee. Obama enjoyed dinner with a small crowd of donors including Calvin Klein and Donna Karan after his appearance on “The View” earlier in the day. This won't be Wintour’s first big event, in 2008 along with Calvin Klein she hosted a party with big name guests including Michelle Obama, Shelby Bryan and Andre Leon Talley. We're sure this event will be one guests will be talking about for years to come. - Brittany S. Gavin

Stella McCartney’s Take on Fashion in her Fall 2010 Ad Campaign
Stella McCartney took an interesting twist to her newest fall ad campaign with the help of the Brit artist, Barry Reigate. The lighthearted illustrations done by Reigate are all over the photographs: on McCartney’s logo, the clothing, and the model. With her newest campaign, McCartney achieved a stylish meets silly take on fashion. This creativity is not only a bold step, but shows a different side of McCartney’s perspective on fashion. With Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot brilliant photography, and the classic look of Natalia Vodianova, the photos for Stella McCartney’s new fall ad campaign are original, fashion forward, humorous and classic all in one. This campaign will be appearing in the British, French and Italian Vogues, Love, Another Magazine, and V Magazine this coming September. - Leigh Loosbrock

Women's Wear Daily Turns 100 - A Look at Their First Issue.
One hundred years ago today was the start of Women’s Wear. At the time, this publication targeted male women’s-wear merchants and the price was $3 for a year. About 15 years later the name of this newspaper changed to Women’s Wear Daily and a legendary fashion publication was born. The evolution of Women’s Wear Daily throughout the years is insurmountable. This publication started to incorporate a woman-based reader, the covers began to include pictures, recognizable designers were discussed, and finally, color was added. The most astounding change is the price increasing from $3 per year into $129 per year- the result of success.
Here's what they aimed to do 100 years ago:
“It will be the aim of the publishers to present to its subscribers a succinct epitomization of the most important happenings and events occurring in the women’s wear industry. The scope of the publication will be to cover the factors between the mill and the merchant. There is probably no other line of human endeavor in which there is so much change as in the product that womankind wears. This brings about an enormous amount of traveling, and the result is that important men in all departments of women’s wear are scattered everywhere over the earth’s surface and lose track of events and happenings, which it will be our purpose to to try and chronicle as briefly as possible, so that these men can pick up and at a minimum of time and expense keep posted. A knowledge of what has transpired is most important, and Women’s Wear will aim to do this.”
Women’s Wear Daily has made leaps and bounds throughout the decades and is now one of the most noted fashion publications today.

Chanel Goes to the Lions for Fall Couture 2010
King of the jungle, Mr. Karl Lagerfeld, sure knows how to put on a show. At last Tuesday’s Chanel show, models emerged from a pearl, held under the paw of a 40-foot gold lion. The golden beast was said to be an astrological reference to Coco herself. Throughout the show waves of deep purples, chocolate browns, and rich reds took the stage. Calf length skirts were paired with billowy blouses and cropped jackets. A-line dresses and bolero jackets were brought up a notch with some major embroidery and beading. Accessories where kept simple except for large cuff bracelets drenched in beading and chains, paired with ankle boots. Concluding the show prior to Lagerfeld himself was his muse, Batisite Giabiconi, wearing a lion-head mask and suited in a flawless Chanel tuxedo. - Nicole Simone
