Glamorama ’09 had all the elements of music, style and sophistication for the in-crowd to enjoy. From Ms. Piggy rocking Marc Jacobs at the show’s opening to a staged rain shower with male models dancing in Papi underwear to the fabulous after party on the 7th floor of Macy’s on State Street – Glamorama ’09 couldn’t have been better!
Fashionistas from all over town gathered at the Chicago Theatre on Friday, August 21st to show off their extravagant outfits, spot some stars and enjoy a night of music and fashion fused together. After Ms. Piggy opened the night, three-time Grammy winner Ne-Yo performed for the excited crowd and showed us how to dance while looking sharp in tailored suits. Ne-Yo wasn’t the only musical treat for the night. Jazz trio The New Standards performed a banging cover of Britney Spears’ Toxic and Jadyn Maria had the chance to inform us why Ne-Yo loves her.
The Glamorama music part was very impressive but let’s take a closer look at the fashion and be utterly impressed. Marc Jacobs, Jean Paul Gaultier, Just Cavalli, Sonia Rykiel, Max Mara and others turned their RTW collections available at Macy’s into high fashion for one night and put on loud and edgy runway shows. Max Mara made it rain paper rose petals, Marc Jacobs loves floral prints for the fall, Jean Paul Gaultier gets his dominatrix on, and Just Cavalli sees all of us in different variations of denim.
As if all this fabulous-ness isn’t enough, the after party was yet to come. Macy’s on State Street turned their 7th floor into party heaven. A dance floor with a specially made Glamorama chandelier, Patron bars that served the instant vintage Glamorita cocktails, classic American and Cajun catering all around, body painted models, virtual games, beauty demonstrations…do we need to proceed? And not to be forgotten, all the Glamorama proceeds will benefit the Ronald McDonald charity for building the biggest house the charity has ever put together. What a night!
