Designer Ted Lapidus Dies
A well-known fashion designer by the name of Ted Lapidus died at age 79. He passed away at a hospital in Cannes on the Riveria. The cause of death was pulmonary problems and he also suffered from leukemia. He was born on June 23, 1929 as Edmond Lapidus and created his label in 1951. He was most known for the reformed unisex look created in the 1960s. He became a member of La Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, a Paris fashion club. His most famous item became the sandy colored safari suit that was extremely popular in the 1960s and1970s. His son, Oliver Lapidus, was extremely instrumental in the designer’s life, helping to form new partnerships in 1982. The creation of high fashion apparel only existed for a short period during Lapidus life, choosing to expand to the production of accessories, watches and fragrances. Funeral services took place at Paris ’ Pere-Lachaise cemetery.
