Golden Globes 2009
The 66th annual Golden Globes did not hold up its end of the fashion bargain. The always extravagant red carpet event yielded to safe and unflattering designs this year. However, some starlets managed to escape the downward spiral of odd bows and faulty fabric gathering. Softer colors and black and white trends triumphed over anything too outrageous. Classic Kate Beckinsale looked lovely in a white satin J. Mendel fishtail gown, as well as Demi Moore in a creamy Dior Halterneck. Penelope Cruz kept it simple and clean in a Giorgio Armani column dress. Drew Barrymore swept us away in a powder blue, floor length, and layered-chiffon creation by Dior with hair Marilyn Monroe would be proud of. Eva Longoria was made-up in true Hollywood fashion wearing a glamorous red satin Reem Acra gown. The stars may be taking a break from the glitzy glam that gets us going as the economy takes a turn for the worse, but we’ll still be standing by – waiting for the return.
