The Velvet Underground
Oh there are many things I can say about The Velvet Underground. Sure their not only an inspiration and influence for practically everything in musique fashion,
and photography but their arguably on of thee most iconic rock bands of the 1960's.
Born from the grungy yet beautiful outskirts of New York City, this band was led and managed by the genius Andy Warhol. The line up consisted of Lou Reed, John Cale, Maureen Tucker, and Sterling Morrison.
The band's legendary status was born during their many frequent gigs at thee infamous, Warhol Factory, and exploded in 1967 with thee addition of German singer Nico. After thee inclusion, Andy Warhol set the platform there after. The Velvet Underground & Nico band was born and till this day is considered thee most important record in music history. Thee infamous Warhol cover art includes the banana which is synonymous with the bands image.
It all came to a fleeting haul in 1970, when Warhol quite managing the group, with the leading members (Nico, Lou Reed, and John Cale) following suite shortly after. Since than, The Velvet Undergound made small comebacks during the 1990s.
Tune: Sunday Morning
Tune: I´m Waiting For The Man
My favorite Velvet Underground tune, "Beginning to See the Light".
The extraordinary Nico in a live interview in 1972(French kiddas and those who understand the language).
