Leslie Hindman Auctions Off Designer Clothing from Billionaire Leona Helmsley

Over the weekend, fashionistas got the chance to bid on items from the estate of Leona Helmsley thanks to Leslie Hindman Auctioneers. Mrs. Helmsley was a billionaire real estate investor who ran many New York City hotels. Known as the Queen of Mean, she ended up going to jail (in a Chanel suit, no less) for tax evasion. The auction was a huge success and made nearly $120k, up from the expected $80k. Here are some of Leona's items that some lucky lady now has.

A Cream silk chiffon and feathered evening gown which Helmsley wore to one of her famous “I’m Just Wild About Harry” parties she would throw every year for her husband Harry, sold for $2,000. A Bob Mackie Red Beaded Evening Gown, which sold for $3,200 A Red silk and feather evening gown made by Helmsley’s personal seamstress, sold for $1,000. The pink wool and denim Chanel suit which Helmsley wore to prison in 1992, which sold for $850. A Group of Ferragamo Shoes, which sold for $1,000.
