SAIC'S Department Head Nick Cave with Ikram Goldman
at the fashion kick-off
Jim Prinz PhotographyWe are always inspired by the creativity that comes out of the art schools in Chicago and last Friday was no exception. The School of The Art Institute held their annual fashion show May 1st and 2nd, continuing the 75 year tradition of showcasing great undergraduate fashion. "Creativity is high at SAIC because our students find inspiration in traditional fashion design, as well as other studio arts—painting, sculpture, architecture, film, ceramics, and video production to name a few," says department chair Nick Cave. "Students freely pursue experimentation for a unique point of view in concept design, cloth manipulation, and hands-on accessory and garment construction."
Alumni notables include Halston, Cynthia Rowley, Laurence Steele, J. Morgan Puett, Eunwha Kim,Maria Pinto, Gary Graham, and Matthew Ames.
