Singer Robyn is known for her collaborative efforts when it comes to her album art work and videos. Lucy McRae who is responsible for the new Body Talk album cover and the spectacular tube dress in her latest video Indestructible shows us how it was all done.
Suspended from a delicately constructed coat hanger construction floats a seven layered paper pixel textile of electro-pop icon Robyn, with the real Robyn knitted amongst her seven other selfs. Constructed over two days by Lucy and the Dream Team Robyn's third epic album is borne!

It turns out the conceptual garment was designed by Australian "body architect" Lucy McRae who's work merges fashion, technology and the human body. Two years ago she began working on "dynamic textiles" made of liquid, air and vapor. She showed the concept to Robyn who felt it an appropriate visual metaphor for "Indestructible". Here's how they did it:
1.2 kilometers of transparent plumbing tubing was knitted with fishing wire to skin Robyn's body. Forty liters of glycerol pumps through over a kilometer of tube, powered by drill pumps that connect to valves releasing air intermittently between the liquid. Gradient colors pulse through the tubes at different speeds, the effect is a living, breathing dynamic skin that traverses the landscape of the body.

Lucy McRae is an Australian artist straddling the worlds of fashion, technology and the body. As a body Architect she invents and builds structures on the skin that re-shape the human silhouette. Her provocative and often grotesquely beautiful imagery suggests a new breed; a future human archetype existing in an alternate world.
Trained as a classical ballerina and architect her work inherently fascinates with the human body. The media call her inventor, friends call her a trailblazer. Either way, she relies on instinct to evolve an extraordinary visual path that is powerful, primal and uniquely Lucy McRae
